Old Time Shuffleboard Pictures
John McGray's Table Shuffleboard Pictures
July 1952 marked the opening of The Weirs Sports Center which we know today as Funspot. This photo shows the original location on the 2nd floor of the Tarlson Building on Lakeside Avenue in The Weirs. Some of the more popular games such as Chicken Sam are seen in the background along with the Photomatic photo booth. Pictures from this booth may be seen today hanging on the wall in The Braggin' Dragon Restaurant at Funspot. The Fun House ornament on the mini-golf is still in use today on the Retro Mini-golf located in The Indoor Golf Center. Bob Lawton purchased the Shuffleboard in 1956 for $125 and operated it for many years before selling it. A few years ago, the gentleman who purchased the game donated the scoring unit on top to The American Classic Arcade Museum at Funspot where it can be seen today hanging on the wall.
Also shown is the original sales receipt for the shuffleboard. Bob paid $125 for it in 1956. What could it be worth today?
