Table Shuffleboard Building
Randy Roberts's Table Shuffleboard Project
I used an 8 foot board cut from a section of maple bowling alley lane. The bed is made from 5/4" pine and 3/4" ply. The legs are maple plywood. I cut the Brunswick stars from 8th inch plywood and are glued on as is all of the aluminum trim made from aluminum angle. Since the bowling lane is put together with hardened nails only, I cut through about a 20 inch wide swath using a Sawzall (and many blades due to the hardened nails!) I drilled through the lane width wise and inserted threaded rods. I countersunk and secured each end of the rods with nuts and flat washers to secure the lane boards tightly together. I purchased and milled hard maple and laminated on each side of the lane for a smooth finish as the individual lane boards are tongue and groove and to cover up the nuts. I used a #2 pencil for the numbers and automotive pinstripe for the lines. I epoxied the lane and made and installed adjusters I fabricated from steel tubing.
